Big Shoulders Display 900 ALL CAPS for headlines (treated like garage door signage), IBM Plex Sans for body, IBM Plex Mono for prices, codes, bay numbers. Headlines push to 6-9rem on the hero so they read as signage rather than text.

The brief
Auto repair sites either go too corporate (logo, polished hero, three pillar boxes) or too punchy (red gradients, stock photos of mechanics with crossed arms). Bayly Auto is a real Pickering shop since 1987; the brand needed to feel like the inside of a working garage at 7am with the bay door open.
The decisions
01 · Typography
Big Shoulders Display 900 ALL CAPS for headlines (treated like garage door signage), IBM Plex Sans for body, IBM Plex Mono for prices, codes, bay numbers. Headlines push to 6-9rem on the hero so they read as signage rather than text.
02 · Palette
Manila-folder bone (#EDE5D3) for paperwork sections, deep ink-black (#0E0D0C) for full-band shop-wall moments, hi-vis safety yellow (#FFCD11) for high-energy stamps + plate cards, warning red (#A02828) for 'we do NOT do this' callouts.
03 · Photo treatment
Full-saturation industrial photography. Subjects are lifts, brakes, welding torches - never editorial-luxe. Most photos use .photo-bleed (no border, no filter, edge-to-edge). The legacy 2px ink border is opt-in for 'document-attached' framing where the photo should read as part of the work order.
04 · Voice
Blue-collar direct. Leads with the disqualifiers: 'We do not do windshields. We do not do detailing. We do not do oil changes for cars under 80,000 km.' Specificity over polish. Sections alternate between bone, hi-vis, and ink backgrounds - the transition is the divider, not a horizontal rule.
